The Local Market

Our office is located in Chestertown’s Historic Downtown at 207 South Cross Street. We are dedicated to serving the needs of our customers and our community. To that end, whether you are buying or selling your home, land, farm or investment property, please know we will give our undivided attention to the task until it is completed.

Our goal is to combine this commitment with a knowledge of the real estate market and the potential it has and to not only provide an enjoyable transaction for all involved, but also try and determine what is on the horizon. So often areas that boast the attributes this area has, can provide excellent investment opportunities. Real Estate, generally considered to be a conservative investment, can, in “the right place at the right time“, have spectacular returns. Many times, as people are selling their home, they discover it has turned out to be a tremendous investment. We think the Kent County vicinity is one of those “right places” and this is becoming one of those “right times”.

Our area's real estate market is displaying the same symptoms of a significant slowdown that are typical of a national market that ran hard from 2002 until mid-2005. Inventory has been building, as has a sense of caution in buyers. They are being far more selective and feel little sense of urgency to rush to the negotiation table. Properties are still selling and, I think, most people know values will eventually continue to strongly appreciate, but not in the immediate future. This does not mean there is a complete lack of activity, just that the market is once again value sensitive. Please note well priced, desirable offerings will continue to bring interest and continue to sell, just not as easily as before. The benefit of this is a better purchasing opportunity.
